Chapter 3.15: And Another One, And Another One

Drew practically lives at the Van Hofwegen house. He's just about to ask for a special dinner dish when. . .

Claude bursts into a cloud of dust and sparkles. Drew is shocked by this development and lets out a loud shriek. He stares on with wide eyes.

Everyone comes running to see what the sudden commotion is. Grim has already arrived and there is nothing left to do.

Claude shakes hands. He's ready to go. He's ready to see Varinia again. The sims left behind sob at the sudden, though not unexpected, departure of their patriarch.

Even Knight has to make his unhappiness known.

Founder graves in the corner of the home lot.

Drew and Lindsay comfort each other.

Amira seeks comfort from her husband. One more death means they are both that much closer to the end.

The children play together into the night.

They don't know it but it's a coping mechanism.

Unfortunately, it's not enough to deal with. . .

another death.

Michael is beyond distraught. He wasn't expecting this. He expected his health nut of a wife to outlive them all. Amira expected that too.

But Grim does not make mistakes.

Grim is never early.

Or late, for that matter.

He arrives exactly when he is supposed to. Amira begs for more time. Her family mourns for her.

Her distress is hard to witness. But nothing will deter Grim from his task.

Another one.

Michael spends the rest of the night sobbing over their bed.

"My mother is gone. What's going to happen now? Who is going to tend the garden?"

The concern is frivolous but it's all her brain can handle at the moment.

Vera spends some time with Bodica to soothe her broken heart.

Michael ignores everyone around him. He works on upgrading his computer and any other piece of equipment in the house.

Brooke is young enough to be mostly unfazed by the sudden passing of her relatives. She sneaks into Lindsay's room and plays inside the toy box.

Peek-a-boo!

Lindsay manages to sleep through her little sister's racket.

Vera reads outside the bookstore before work. She can't stand to be in the house right now. It's so empty it's hard to deal with.

Brooke reads to herself. Oddly, she is able to teach herself useful skills just by flipping the pages and drooling on the pictures in her books.

Jude decides to try his hand at parenting and teaches Brooke how to walk.

Shoving screwdrivers into electrical equipment. It's almost like he's taunting fate.

Knight being adorable.

Beating fireplaces with hammers.

Despite the heavy despair that hangs in the air, life goes on. Lindsay still has homework and Vera helps her figure it out like a good parent.

Jude comforts his horses and his horses comfort him. It's a symbiotic relationship.

Since time waits for no sim, Vera finds herself at the brink of full fledged adulthood.

She doesn't call anyone to witness the transition.

Adult. Nothing has really changed.

Lindsay works on this piece of art that she has been working on for days and days.

With another win under their belts, Jude and Cameo strike a heroic pose.

Jude helps in the garden but most of the plants are dead or dying.

Gnomes have no respect.

Claude haunts. He dances in the living room all night.

Then takes a nap in Michele's old bed. He doesn't care if his presence freaks Lindsay out. Luckily she doesn't wake up until after Claude has disappeared.

Tired of shoving pieces of metal into electronics and not getting electrocuted to death, Michel takes to the garden. Maybe he'll come into contact with a highly toxic plant.

Cameo and Knight talk about other animals. Cameo is not please with the idea of more horses.

Sorry for the lacking story line in this update. There was just a whole lot of commotion and I just wanted to desperately get through all these deaths. There have been so many deaths. I'm kind of over it at this point. All my sims are sad all of the time and all they do is whine and cry. It is super depressing. So there you have it. One elder left in the house. Moira and Marques are also still alive as is Jesse. So 4 sims left from Gen 2 and the Gen 2 spares.

  1. :( Well, Claude has been waiting for it for a while now. That's one of the reasons why I don't want to keep previous generations in the same household, it's just death moodlets and crying all the time when they come of age!

But I love the idea of the related objects next to the graves! If you want to keep the ghosts around for the entire legacy then you might want to install a mod that removes the ghost freakout, it can get pretty annoying when sims drop everything and freak out (or faint!) because they saw a ghost for the thousandth time.

    Also, poor Michael :'(

    1. Oddly, Claude kept getting a wish to throw a birthday party for Amira (who was already an elder) and it almost felt like he wanted her to die before he did. It was super odd. Yeah, it doesn't help that I've just had a lot of deaths close together since Gen 1 lived so long (thanks to the young again potion). I'm hoping it's not as bad later on. If anything I may just get everyone the Stone Hearted LR from here on out. LOL

I'm still debating if I'm going to keep the graves on the lot or if I'm going to make a family graveyard somewhere else. I'll wait till Michael passes and then make a decision on that one. If I end up keeping them then I will definitely look into that mod.

Poor Michael is last man standing in this household and he is not happy about it.

  2. You can send them to the graves to mourn to cut down the moodlet hits by half. I think if you do it once each day for two days the moodlet either goes away or is quartered.

That is a lot of deaths! Now would be a good time to read about all those sims in their youth, wouldn't it? Michel doing everything he can to keep busy (and maybe challenge grim) is understandable.

    1. I did not know that! I will definitely keep that in mind.

Michael and Amira had a tumultuous marriage in the early years. I very much like their relationship. Varinia and Claude have always been adorable. That was also an adventure though as Varinia rolled single. It was a lot of the two of them dancing around getting married. Fun times!

I'm still slowly making my way through the Sparrows. Loving every chapter. :D
